The efficacy of α-arbutin

Part1. What is α-Arbutin

α-Arbutin is a new type of whitening raw material. α-Arbutin can be quickly absorbed by the skin, selectively inhibit the activity of tyrosinase, thereby blocking the synthesis of melanin, but it does not affect the normal growth of epidermal cells, nor does it inhibit the expression of tyrosinase itself. At the same time, α-arbutin can also promote the decomposition and excretion of melanin, thereby avoiding the deposition of skin pigment, eliminating spots and freckles. The action process of α-arbutin will not produce hydroquinone, nor will it produce side effects such as toxicity, irritation and allergy to the skin. The above characteristics determine that α-arbutin can be used as the safest and most effective raw material for skin whitening and pigmentation elimination so far. α-Arbutin has the function of disinfecting and moisturizing the skin, it can also resist allergies, and it can also help the healing of damaged skin. These properties make α-arbutin widely used in cosmetics.

Part2. Features

1.Quickly whitens & brightens the skin, the whitening effect is stronger than β-arbutin, suitable for all skin types.

2.Effectively lightens spots (age spots, liver spots, post-sun pigmentation, etc.).

3.Protects the skin and reduces skin damage caused by UV rays.

4.Safe, less dosage, lower cost.

5.It has good stability and is not affected by temperature, light, etc. in the formula.

Part3. Mechanism of action

Arbutin quickly penetrates into the skin, and through its combination with tyrosinase, it affects the activity of tyrosinase and blocks the formation of melanin, thereby reducing skin pigmentation and removing spots and freckles.

Part4. What are the functions of α-arbutin?

1) Whitening and depigmentation

Tyrosine is the raw material for forming melanin, and tyrosinase is the main rate-limiting enzyme for converting tyrosine into melanin, and its activity determines the amount of melanin formed. That is to say, the higher the activity of tyrosinase in the body and the more content, the easier it is to form melanin.

And arbutin can produce competitive and reversible inhibition of tyrosinase, thereby inhibiting the production of melanin, achieving the effects of whitening, skin brightening, and freckle removal!

2) Sun protection

α-arbutin also has the function of absorbing ultraviolet rays. Some researchers conducted a special test on sunscreen products added with α-arbutin, and found that α-arbutin showed UV absorption ability.

In addition, it has been verified by many scientific research experiments that α-arbutin has also shown certain curative effects in terms of anti-inflammation, antibacterial and anti-oxidation.

If the effect of using skin care products added with α-arbutin is not obvious, it must be a problem of insufficient concentration. The dosage of α-arbutin should be 3%. If it is less than this amount, the inhibitory effect on the catalytic activity of tyrosinase in the skin will be weak, and the whitening effect will not be obvious.
